Anton Bilchik Encourages Participation in Fundraising Efforts to Enhance Cancer Research

The effects of cancer are widespread and felt by more than just the patient and immediate family. Even if you or your family members have not been diagnosed with cancer, the chances are that you know someone closely that has. Dr. Anton Bilchik, MD, is Professor of Surgery at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in California and founder of the California Oncology Research Institute and stresses the importance of funding to support continued research into the causes and potential cures for all types of cancer. This can be done by donating to charities and research groups and participating in local events that raise money for cancer research. This year, the government reduced funding for cancer research and so scientists more than ever are dependent on philanthropy for support. Without it, progress to find more effective treatments for cancer will be impeded.
