In a time where “fake news” is loosely being used throughout news media, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to determine which claims are actually true and which are false. When it comes to the topic if cancer, we often hear of scientific research that either highlights new leading causes of cancer or new ways of preventing it. Should we really believe everything we hear? As much as the information looks and sounds credible, the reality is that if you look at the evidence, you will most likely discover that the truth behind popular claims are actually false.
In a recent interview conducted with Reader’s Digest magazine, Dr. Anton Bilchik was asked, “Does sugar cause cancer?” His response was,
“Sugar doesn’t cause cancer, nor does it worsen it. Sugar is needed to support the immune system, which helps fight cancer. Sugar (glucose) in moderation is just fine and important in a balanced diet.”
